EVALUATING COLLEGE FOOTBALL'S NEWEST JERSEYS

The anticipation is killing me. The season is just around the corner and football programs across the nation are getting fired up by showing off their new digs for 2012, except our Colorado State Rams. I know, I know; show a little patience. Two things though. I know there will be an unveiling soon and when they finally do show us, I won't be the only one wanting to burn those spaghetti o'ed shoulder, Russell branded, pale green pieces of garbage. Those jerseys were cursed from the get go. I can only imagine what Russell has for CSU's final year in their contract. In the mean time, all we can do is judge what other programs have shown us for this year's season. Lets get this thing started.

RUTGERS SCARLET KNIGHTS
I think Nike nailed it by accomplishing a complete brand, down to the medieval numbers on the jerseys. I love the shiny helmets that resemble an actual knight's helmet. The only thing I have to criticize is they didn't update the face mask to a slotted visor, to give it the whole effect. Now if they could only get the players to talk like the odd balls at the renaissance festival, it would complete the package. I give the Rutgers Scarlet Knights jersey an A.

MISSOURI TIGERS
Please. Another Nike photo copy of Oregon/Boise State's original styles. The massive logo on the side of the helmet reminds me of those old crappy helmets of the Boston Breakers of the USFL, or those awful helmets the San Jose Sabercats wear. Terrible. Don't get me wrong. I do like the jerseys and because of that I give the Missouri Tigers a C+.

EASTERN MICHIGAN
The Eagles are stepping it up this year with these Adidas' forty billion combo jerseys. Damn, why do you need so many combinations of tops, bottoms, helmets, wrist guards, sweatbands, and mouth pieces? The only thing missing is the Hello Kitty backpack with matching pacifier, holy shit. You don't need that. I dig the E helmet though. It's very simple and to the point. C for Eastern Michigan.

UTAH STATE
I honestly can say these jerseys are up there for being one my favorites. Besides the WAC logo which happens to stick out like a sore thumb, I love the simplicity of these jerseys. Nike did a great job rebranding the Aggies to not look like the Penn State of the west. A solid A for Utah State.

VANDERBILT COMMODORES
Eh, pretty cool. I like the black helmet with the all black unis. I like the simplified versions from years past. That dude's mug looks pretty mean with that nasty "gold" jersey. Not really much to say about these. B for the Vanderbilt Commodores.

TEXAS A&M AGGIES
Finally, Adidas got it. Quite possibly my favorite of this line-up. The Aggies revamped an old 1970's style jersey they had and brought it up to speed with these bad boys. I think they got everything right with these. The numbers look bad ass. Not to flashy but just enough to say "Check me out! I'm coming to knock you into next week MF!" A+ for the Texas A&M Aggies.

For Colorado State, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for plain Jane to make an appearance.
I guess we'll have to wait for media day to see the new Rams. Sometime in August?
